E-commerce trend indicator 2017
Mobile shopping has doubled
Swiss residents are increasingly using their smartphone to shop online. They see mobile payment and online shop certification as less important factors.
Around 12,000 people from the three Swiss language regions were questioned as part of the 2017 Swiss e-commerce trend indicator survey. In the survey, data was gathered about the reasons for, frequency and advantages and disadvantages of online purchases, and the factors that contribute to a pleasant shopping experience. The survey shows that respondents are shopping by smartphone in growing numbers. Mobile shopping has doubled: While in 2015 only 17 percent used their smartphone to make purchases, the figure is now 33 percent. They see mobile payment and online shop certification as less important factors. When it comes to the question of online payment, buyers are sticking with traditional methods of payment. Most of the customers surveyed prefer to pay by invoice or credit card.
